(Note: this post has absolutely nothing to do with that cutesy kid's movie about a dog, a cow and an octopus making some epic voyage across the country in an attempt to find their family that accidentally deserted them whilst moving house.)
A long night of discussion, mediation, shared advice, rude metaphors, detours with associated adventures and a COPIOUS amount of red wine has resulted in me taking the early bus back home to Clonmel. It's been a working trip to the 'sunny south east', time being consumed by a detailed examination of a third party wiki/cms system and refreshing my knowledge on the top 5 SEO ranking methodologies.
All work/no play?
Every once and a while I've cast my eye out at the world scrolling quickly past and noticed some strange and amusing sights.
- A rusting Russian cold-war era UAZ jeep
- An attractive two story house with discreet 'auburn house' signage set beside an identical house with a large and boisterous 'Auburn Villa' plaque
- A dead cat lying in a torn rubbish bag surrounded by lemon peel
- A movie prop truck parked outside Kilmainham jail. Totally unrelated to the three points above, but I'm pretty sure it was on the set of 'a love divided' all those years ago
A final note, another small observation. On every trip I've taken on public transport lately, I've encountered groups of (typically black, but I'm not racist - I have a colour TV!!!) emigrants loudly playing their ring-tone incarnations of the worst of the 80's pop music...
Why...?
Battery down
For the first time in a while, technology has surprised me! My laptop squawked battery empty 30 minutes ago, but the machine is still ticking! Granted it's a new battery (it's sibling begin recalled by IBM/Lenovo on account of being part of a potentially explosive batch) but my luck with portable power has been particularly weak of late (my HTC Himalaya being the prime cause of consternation) - sweet!
