Security,
no matter how fundamental, no matter how much the patriotic drum is beaten, does not feed us, give us jobs, educate our children, keep us healthy from disease, fund our vacations, nor contribute to many aspects of what is termed The American Way of Life.

We would be wise to bear that in mind.
