I've labeled this 'spoilers' for a number of reasons. The main one being Ronald D.Moore, the exec producer and main writer of the series was less than impressed at the spoiler material that floated around the net in the days and weeks prior to the the season two finale 'Lay down your burdens'.
I appreciate his concerns about ruining the stories impact and I can only imagine he would loath the idea of going back to his 'trek' days of security and massive secrecy. But he forgets one thing. We're adults. We should be allowed to choose weather we want to abstain and immerse ourselves completely . Almost every artist in the digital 'space' (and prior) has had to come to terms with this - the auteur no longer has 100% control on the presentation of the vision. Trailers tease and create impressions and expectations, physical screen-sizes change, sound & bandwidth differ and ultimately information leaks.
Take advantage of it... The spoilers that have appeared here and elsewhere are labeled 'SPOILER' - an approach that even RDM uses in his pod-casts. Ample warning is given. Those who want to a sneak peek: learn, those who want to the full experience go cold turkey for 'just a little while longer'!
So why the spiel Dez? Well - it's simple. The spoilers below come from most of my regular sources. They haven't' been wrong in the past, But Ron's reaction to the leaks and a logical (and, to be honest, possibly fantastic) chance for the BSG crew to subvert expectations with a series of faked 'leaked' spoilers means I can't stand over what is listed below:
*AHEM* SPOILERS (!)
- Helo is now XO of the Galactica
- The show picks up a year after the season two finale
- We lose a major character in the first three episodes
- Kara is presented with a child, a result of 'the Farm' episode
- Sam Anders doesn't die by of pneumonia, reprises his role as a resistance soldier
- Back-plot from the year on 'new Caprica' will be told in a series of webisodes - titled 'The Resistance' - in production at the moment if reports are to be believed.
- The cylon model question comes up again (are resurrecting cylons like raiders (and possibly basestars) counted in the 'twelve model' limit?)
