About the man
6ft 2' with a dark complexion and massive c Dez doesn't like talking about himself. Unless you're covering web development, movies, screen writing, comedians, science, technology, any form of flight or airsoft. Then he can talk all day. All day...! It's probably best you don't start him ...
About the Website
Dez has had a personal website online in one form or another since 1995 (http://www.iol.ie/~dez - now thankfully defunct). Since then it has slowly grown from its ISP free web-space roots to getting its very own domain name back in the beginning of 2001, long after the sell by date of the originals center and frame tags!
The site has always been proud of doing things 'a little differently'. The content management system / Blogging software / photo gallery / chat system / website theme / javascript library are all written from scratch. This may sound like madness when there's a wealth of perfectly capable tools out there, but he's found this approach offers a fantastic agility and has resulted in a leaner, faster website (nevermind the tremendous learning opportunity!). Now if only he could write decent content...
